The global effort to fast-track the development of the jab has been hailed as a milestone for the world science community.
Dozens of drug companies and academic institutions are racing to create a vaccine, with at least four already producing candidates they have been testing in animals.

In the United States, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) has already deployed up to US $29.2million (£24m) in the search for a vaccine.
This includes three programmes with one of its existing partners, Moderna Inc – which has already started a trial in humans.
